About

Local swimmers are organizing a swim-a-thon to celebrate Mother’s Day and fundraise for Every Mother Counts to support EMC’s mission to make pregnancy and childbirth safe, respectful, and equitable for every mother, everywhere.

In 2017 a few friends and family, celebrated Mother's Day by swimming a 12-hour relay at the Greenwich YMCA to support EMC. Next year they decided to share the fun and organize it as an annual event to provide other swimmers the opportunity to swim with a purpose and to raise awareness to maternal health care issues in United States and around the globe.

Swimmers of all abilities can join a dedicated group swimmers who volunteer their time to organize and swim in an all-day event. The workout takes place during regular swimming hours with YMCA lifeguards present and is supervised by Adrian Stroie, level 2 USMS coach and other swimmers from Tribeach CT USMS team . Caps and swag are given to all participants and t-shirts to all participants who like to make a donation. Snacks and drinks are provided during the event and customized awards are made for the swimmers and teams who complete the most number of laps.

Please joint the swim and cheer and challenge each other while making a difference in the movement for maternal health and birth justice.
